Great is Thy Faithfulness

On the weekend before last, my grandparents celebrated sixty years of life together.  It was a very enjoyable day and it was great to see my extended family.  My grandparents’ living siblings were there, all of their children, and many of their grandchildren and great grandchildren.  After we all had dinner together, we all paused and sang the old hymn ‘Great is Thy Faithfulness’.  I had not heard it in so long and it was beautiful to hear all of our voices singing it in unison.  The poem was written by Thomas Chisolm in 1923.

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!  Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Sargasso

For anyone who missed seeing the sculpture, here are some links to pictures of and articles about the ‘Sargasso’ installation by Philip Beesley Architect that was up in the Brookfield Place for the LuminaTO Festival.  I did a lot of coordination for the project and designed several of the components.  Enjoy!
