Canada Christmas 2021

We had a lovely Christmas gathering with the immediate family at our parents house. Our family pretty much fit the Covid social gathering rule of 10 people by having 10 + baby! We did our traditional meal of appetisers on the coffee table. I introduced the family to my homemade pizza recipe and got to enjoy old favourites not found in Congo like baked bree with red pepper jelly, goat cheese, and croquettes. Yum! We also pulled out some Boneshakers that Dad bought because I told him the story of how when Othy and I were still doing long-distance, I showed Othy an empty bottle of Boneshaker and he said he had to try it. So today was the day! Al also made a tasty sangria.

We couldn’t finish off the evening without a family photo and our tradition of one composed, one crazy!

The next morning Othy and I took some photos of our family by the tree to make into a card to send to our friends and extended family.

In the late morning we went to Al’s for a tasty brunch of Fritattas and pancakes. On the following weekend we spent new years eve with Mom and Dad and then Al and Theresa hosted us for Clam Chowder on New Year’s Day. We are thankful that we got to have such wonderful time with family!

Christmas Cards 2.0

This year I made Christmas cards again for my family. Jen brought along some craft supplies on the Sunday afternoon before Christmas and we crafted together for a few hours. I wanted to do simple cards that wouldn’t take too long to make but still look top notch. I was inspired by an image online that used messy watercolour on top of a white crayon drawing of Christmas symbol, but instead of crayon I did paper cutting and came up with my own symbol designs. I am very happy with how they turned out!

Moses at Twenty-Two Months

Moses is growing so fast that after only two months apart, I had to get to know him all over again. It was a pleasure and privilege to do so. He has picked up lots of words and likes to say them and point at the object. It was easier than I thought it would be to get him into reading. He loves books and we started a tradition of reading a story every night before bed. He is also enjoying eating new foods and going for walks with the stroller. He loves to play with all the cool new toys that Aunt Al and Theresa bought for him and also the ones at Grandma and Grandpa’s house that we played with as kids. He is very affectionate and a bit jealous of his little sister. He likes to give her kisses, hold her, and join her on the floor for tummy time. There have been lots of firsts and fond memories from our visit to Canada.

Welcome to the World Sarah

We thank God for the arrival of Sarah into our family. We are thankful to have been able to deliver in Canada and be close to family. We are enjoying getting to know our little one and adjusting to life as a family of four. Moses is already an affectionate big brother!
